Giving The Best Christmas Gift

Giving The Best Christmas Gift

A very Merry Christmas to YOU.

Mine was a restful one. It started off with a church celebration, then we headed home, prepared meals, dined and rested. That was exactly how the day was intended and I am glad it was achieved.

In the usual habit, we all opened our gift boxes received from loved ones on the 26th of December. It’s called the Boxing Day and as I meditate, this passage from the scripture ministered to me and I pray it does minister to you as well:

If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving–large or small–it will be used to measure what is given back to you – Luke 6: 38, NLT

As explicit as the New Living Translation is, this post isn’t about what was received but more emphasis is made on what was given, and clearly Christmas is about giving. The Bible also made us to understand that, it is more profitable to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).

If on the Boxing Day, you realised that Santa didn’t smile your way this season with loads of gift boxes or none at all, maybe and just maybe, you need to check your giving spirit. Giving isn’t about how much spent in buying presents or gifts for others, giving depends on the condition of your heart. There are creative, inexpensive ways to be a blessing to another in this season. Some years ago, I talked about giving Gifts That Give Back.

On Sunday, 18th of December, 2016, The Energizing Lives Foundation Team visited two Orphanage Homes in Lagos, Nigeria as part of our give-back activities under Community Development Project. The two orphanage homes visited were:

  1. Living Fountain Orphanage
  2. Heritage Home Orphanage

The Heritage Home Orphanage is our partner as well as a beneficiary of our flagship project tagged “Project Decorate” where we decorated the living room of the orphanage home, to create a better living condition and ambiance for the children. This season, we extended our hearts to the children of Living Fountain Orphanage.

Living Fountain Orphanage is a non-governmental, non-profit organization which was established on November 1st 2007 out of the desire to provide shelter, clothing, emotional care and hope for a better future for the motherless, abandoned, and the less privileged children in our society. As at today, the home houses about thirty two (32) children (between the ages of 2 months and 13 years) with about 6 in-house care givers.

They are located at Plot 22, Yusuf Abiodun Way, (Near Villa Toscana Hotel, New Oniru Market) Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria.

They will be celebrating 10 years of housing, caring and nurturing the motherless, abandoned and less privileged children in our society, come next year, 2017 with events starting from January.

Currently, Living Fountain Orphanage is in need of the following:

  1. Volunteering in the Orphanage: Living Fountain Orphanage welcomes volunteers who will love to work voluntarily in any capacity. We have need for caregivers, dishwashers, event organizers etc. Just think of anything you can do to put a smile on the LFO children, then, visit us. We are always opened from 9am – 5pm
  2. Sponsoring a Child’s Education: The LFO children are in need of education. Sponsoring an LFO child by paying his/her school fees will make at least a child educated and not a nuisance to the society. If you wish to sponsor a child’s education, please contact us.
  3. Extracurricular teachers for the prep-school: The LFO prep-school is in need of trained teachers who will love to instill knowledge and leadership qualities in the lives of these children.

OUR MISSION

In partnership with Living Fountain Orphanage, especially towards her 10th year anniversary. Energizing Lives Foundation (ELF) will like to support the orphanage home by sponsoring a child’s education. If this is your mission also, we invite you to be a part of this solution by sending an email to us via; info@elivesfoundation.org

In the words of the Founder, Lady Bethy Obieri and in line with our vision, let’s help one of these children to re-discover who he or she is and in doing so, empower him or her to become a global influencer. Get involved TODAY.
