The Big Reveal: My Favourite Decor Project

Hello Home Lovers,

How’s your weekend coming up? It’s a lazy one for me. I have tried to kick-start my exercise lifestyle today with a Race Against Cancer Corporate Challenge organised by Nigerian Stock Exchange and supported by FCMB in Victoria Island but….That’s the story for another post.

From the word “go” you will know those projects that will go smoothly and those ones that will be a pain in your a**. This is one of such projects that you will be glad you did and you are excited, knowing how much publicity and referrals it will badge you. After i showed this client some of my works on my phone, he was amazed with what i have done so far even though i haven’t gone into the decor business full time. He said to me “Nkem, i will be moving into my new house in few months and will definitely need your services”. This was sometime in November 2015, and some months later, March to be precise, i was informed that he is through with the structural changes in the house and will commence furnishing so he can move in by May, which is when his rent will start counting.

I visited the “house of focus” on the 28th of March to discuss the ideas, get the contract finalized and GBAM! i got credited with the consultation fee. Yes! The usual practice is to get paid for consultation fee before visiting the house in question or making suggestion because i have realized that some people are not actually looking to employ the services of a professional home decorator or designer but would rather get your ideas or concept and afterwards, go behind you to execute the project so, i have borrowed sense for myself, Lol.

Below are details of the project with pictures, please feel to use the comment box and provide us with your commendation, constructive criticism and ultimately refer a project to us:

Colour schemes: We help clients choose paint or home decor colour schemes for their homes but this is totally the client’s preference. For this client, i didn’t get involved with the paint choices and that is fine. My responsibility is to ensure that every decor furnishing works with the paint colour.

Fabric and Accessories: This is where the bulk of the responsibilities lies. I had to ensure that the upholstery fabric, drapery plus hardware, bedding designs, furniture and all other accessories works together to achieve a perfect sync and ambiance. The drapery in the bedroom happens to be my favourite. Which is yours?

Space Management: Making the most of the space you have in your home is the key to a perfect home design and organization is an effective space management skill. The furniture arrangement, the functional storage system as well as the ease of movement for entertainment, studying and cleaning of the house is what i am very proud of about this project.

Enough said, let the pictures tell the rest of the stories……
