The Different Sides To Me

The Different Sides To Me

Happy Independence To My Dear Country, Nigeria!!!

I was writing a post the other day. Specifically, i was building on my featured article, 10 Things You Should Do In Your 30s Without Regret on Discovering Life Purpose. A friend of mine asked what i was writing on and decided to have a look at the draft. The first comment I got was “you know this is your best article so far, not all those your “what i wear” posts”. He also made mention of my writing style.

I didn’t take an offence with his comments rather, I had mixed feelings. First, I smiled to the fact that he attested the post is stellar. Secondly I got thinking, don’t i have other sides to me? The side that would create a fashion style out of the blues, wear it and inspire another fashionista. Truth is, i have had loads of ladies call me up and ask questions like “How many yards did you use for that jumpsuit, who is your designer, where did you buy the fabric from, oh! you can sketch, I can’t even draw to save my life, etc”

The fact that one does not enjoy a particular kind of posts doesn’t mean another won’t. People find inspiration in several forms and facets. I repeat! there are different sides to me just like there are 36 states that make one country, Nigeria.

Before i learnt who i am, i learnt how to dress in a certain way, i know what fits me and what doesn’t. Even my 3-year old niece knows not to wear a particular dress that her mum gives her and prefers a certain dress.

Before i learnt how to make money from my talents, i learnt how to “mix and match” to produce a style or a design.

Before i learnt that my writing could inspire another, i learnt how to put them down on a paper or journal. Who still keeps a journal by the way?

So today, i want us to talk about what makes us who we are, the different sides to YOU.

The fact that you are a financial guru doesn’t mean you aren’t a foodie and you binge-eat sometimes, go ask Arese Ugwu.

The fact that you stand on the pulpit to preach and win souls for God doesn’t mean you should deny the fact that sometimes you trip on sin.

The fact you are a father doesn’t mean that sometimes you don’t enjoy having your “alone” time with no distraction from kids, wife and money demands.

Why did I decide to create a lifestyle blog and quit talking just about decor and renovating my home? Because there are different sides to me that I want to talk about. I am not a one-size-fit-all; I make merry and I can be messy too. I have achieved very many feats and I have also failed in many. I cannot inspire you with just my perfections, I hope that you still relate with me after you’ve learnt about my imperfections. I want to be an inspiration to the next person beside me, not just to teach you how to make money or have a sound mind but also teach you how to love yourself first, that is, loving what you take inside of you (like the things you read, the food you eat, the company you keep, the discussions you entertain) and what eventually comes out of you.

I love to wake up, dress up and slay (greatly impress)

I love to declutter, decorate my home and marvel at my creativity

I love to help another become better even though they sometimes feel am being a pain

I love to try new things, even though I fail, I learn and start again

I love to ….

Whatever you do, learn to appreciate your whole being, the different sides that complements who and what you are, entertain constructive feedbacks, improve on yourself and get better at slaying.

Have a lovely weekend and don’t forget to share with me in the comment space, the different sides to YOU.

Great post. What do we do to those ugly-not-so-proud sides of us?

      Hey Temmy,

Those “ugly-not-so-proud-of” sides makes you who you are.

Focus of the areas you are proud of and work on improving on them on a daily basis.

Before you know it, your strengths tends to overshadow your weaknesses but hey! do not fail to make changes on your weaknesses as long as you have identified them.

No single side that I don’t like 🙂 All stem from creativity. The fact that you can mix and match; be it fabric to be worn as body adornment or for room beautification. It’s just the same as believing that no job experience is irrelevant. Every exposure counts. Every side to us is same. What would life be without the many arrays?

    Cheers beautiful. You rock 😉

Oh yes! I agree no job experience is irrelevant.
      Cheers too Honi
